How can I get free help from mentors for my business?

Long story short I want to start my own business. I want to have mentors or people to guide me. In my entrepreneur class we learned anyone is open to help us. Is this true or will they view me as competition?
The biggest problem new entrepreneurs have is they expect help to be free.
We get it! You are totes excited about your multi-billion dollar unicorn idea and your overly pessimistic outlook on business ownership! You are taking a leap of faith and want to consume as much information as possible! Oh, and tell everyone you are an entrepreneur!
Entrepreneurship isn’t a goal. It is a right of passage you should be trying to get past so you can actually own a real business.
And all those mentors and people you want to guide you? They have families, bills to pay, and rightfully deserve to be compensated for their efforts.
I’m not sure what an entrepreneur class is, what they teach in there, why it exists, or why anyone would be willing to pay for it… but it sounds like your classmates may all have unrealistic expectations about entrepreneurship.
I also imagine you are not being taught by a person who owned or created a million/billion-dollar company either.
Those who can’t do, teach. Right?
Anyone is open to help you? Like… any and everyone? Why would complete strangers offer you advice? And why would you want to gain your knowledge from just anyone?
No… not everyone is open to helping you. And the only ones worth their weight in gold, are going to cost you money. Anything else you need to know is available on YouTube for free.
Everything else… is the long, grueling years of being broke and building a real company.
It took amazon 12 years to become profitable. Your long story is going to take you a lot longer than you think, and any desire to make the story shorter will kick one’s butt when it comes to entrepreneurship.
