MAN TRYING TO SLEEP

We all have big dreams, big plans and ambitions or at least most of us do. These plans are broken down into daily detailed schedules and courses of action, none of which can be done effectively without a proper night’s sleep.

Sleep is your brain’s version of a break, although your brain doesn’t really shutdown; the lack of consciousness gives your mind and body a chance to rejuvenate and freshen up. What happens if you don’t get enough sleep? You wake up tired, heavy-headed, moody, unmotivated, and sometimes even easily irritable.

Focused people do not miss out on a good night’s sleep by choice. They are not up watching Netflix until 3 in the morning. They suffer from insomnia, a condition where no-matter how hard they try to shut their eyes and go to sleep, it just doesn’t happen. Even when they are able to count sheep and drift away it’s only a two to three hour snooze which is just not enough for complete body and mind rejuvenation.

Thankfully, there are healthy ways to combat insomnia. These of course don’t involve the use of alcohol and drugs that help knock you out. We are about to discuss lifestyle choices that you can make today to kiss insomnia goodbye and have those peaceful nights your body wants and needs.

                                           Build a Sleeping Pattern

It is important to train your body when to shut down and what time to wake up the following day. If you do this enough times, your body will create an automatic on and off switch. This will reduce your chances of suffering from insomnia. Those late weekend nights can be quite tempting, but that will only mess up your sleeping pattern and drag you back to square one.

                                         Limit Bed-time Activities

If you turn your bed into your little personal office or your TV viewing area, you will probably stay alert which will affect your ability to fall asleep. Just like you set the mood during romantic dates, set the mood for sleeping. Have a nice low-light environment that only encourages falling asleep or having sex. You will have an easier time falling asleep.

                                         Change your Eating Habits

Eating late dinners and having middle of the night snacks awakens your digestive system, which will keep you up. You will also have to contend with strange noises coming out of your belly as the digestion process goes on. This only sets you up for a low-energy, grumpy, and sleepy mood next day.

                                        Make your Bedroom Comfortable

You are probably not falling asleep because your bedroom looks like a crime scene, you have a third-rate mattress, and your pillow smells of drool. Just like a woman, sleep also has to be wooed. The same way you scrub every inch of your apartment when a girl is coming over, clean up your room and make it comfy if you want to welcome sleep as well.  Otherwise, your days will be as uneventful and slow just like your sex life is.

                                                  Reduce Stress

The daily grind can be stressful and sometimes annoying. So you want to ease your stress before retiring to bed. Doing that by playing computer games only stimulates your mind and makes you more alert, try something else that soothes you and makes you sleepy instead. If you don’t have a partner or a spouse who can help with this, try ASMR. There are plenty of ASMR artists online who can help soothe you to sleep, in their own creative and weird ways.
