Starting a blog can be hard; there are so many different and unique blogs out there, and it can feel impossible to stand out and create original content.  Most bloggers, like myself, blog because we love it.  Bloggers usually just enjoy writing and just want to get their thoughts out there, whether they are making money at it or not.  Here are some tips that I think all bloggers could use, whether you are new to blogging or you’ve been blogging forever.

Have A Morning Routine

Having a morning routine is important whether you are just starting out as a new blogger or you are blogging full time.  Waking up early and at the same time every day will help start your morning off on the right foot.  Getting dressed and ready for the day is crucial even if you are staying home.  When you look good, you feel good!  Create a block of time for your work, whether it be all day or just a few hours.  Most importantly, set goals for yourself short term and long term.

Have an Organized Workspace

Dedicate a space in your house for you to work, and fill it with things that bring you joy.  Even if you don’t have room in your house for an office, try to find a space that is comfortable for you.  If you have to, set up a blogging station in your dining room, grab a cozy blanket and your computer and work from there!  Always remember to keep it nice and organized so you aren’t overwhelmed with chaos.

Don’t Compare Your Blog to Others

If you find yourself comparing your blog to others, maybe it’s time to take a break from social media.  Comparing yourself to others isn’t fair to you and will only make you feel bad.  You don’t know how long others have been blogging for, or how much money they’re spending to make their blog look the way that it does.

Be Positive!

Chances are, you aren’t going to get rich and famous from your first month of blogging.  Most bloggers blog because they love doing it!  Sharing knowledge and opinions with others IS rewarding no matter if you are getting paid or not.  Have a positive attitude with your blog and just keep sticking with it.

Short and Sweet

Most people read blogs for entertainment value, and to maybe learn a few things for pleasure.  Keeping your posts short and sweet will not overwhelm your reader and will keep them engaged with what you have to say.

Starting a blog can be daunting, but with the right attitude, a comfortable workspace, and a routine, you will be very successful at blogging!  The best thing that you can do is to not compare yourself to others, and recognize that people like to read what you have to say for a reason.  Being consistent with posting and engaging with your readers will make your blog stand out and keep people coming back for more.
